2014 Alfa Romeo 4C

This is an all new model developed by Alfa Romeo

Traditionally the tendency of Alfa Romeos are being sport sedans that are quite unreliable and not cheap to buy. The Italian Alfa Romeo will be trying to capture some market share again with this new model Alfa Romeo 4C.

The 4C can be seen as a successor of the former Alfa car the 8C Competizione which was a two seat coupe with a sexy outlook. These characteristics have nicely blended into the new 4C. However with the 500 horsepower and carbon-fiber body the 8C cost more than $200,000 making it a very small selling car which only soled around 100 models in the U.S.

The 4C coupe is however more trending towards super cars with a carbon fiber top with aluminum roof and structures. Also the engine is all aluminum helping to keep the weight at a lower level, according to Alfa the engine weighs only 2000 pounds.

The 1.8 liter for cylinder engine is capable of generating 240 horsepower with 258 pound feed of torque. The turbo which is made visible to the driver’s glass panel very much like the Ferrari cars comes along with the six speed gearbox with dual clutch and automated manual transmission with shifters fitted in the steering wheel.

The 4C provides precise and responsive handling through its double wishbones and the rear struck suspension.

The expected starting price for this car is $70,000. Alfa Romeo is planning to make only 3,500 cars of this model.

The 4C by Alfa Romeo could be seen as the gap filler between the Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S and the Porsche Cayman.

The 2014 4C model will use a mid engine platform. Even though the details are not yet exact we can expect good and high performance with a light weight approach in the structure and engine. If the claims of Alpha turn out to be reality then the engine being below 2000 pounds will be an extravagant achievement.

The 1.7 liter four cylinder engine with turbo that is used to fill the hood of the 4C is sourced from the Fiat group. It will work alongside a six speed automatic with dual clutch. Still the engines power output is not exactly known how ever we can expect it to do more than 200 horsepower. With all the power gushing from the rear wheels we could expect a top speed of around 155 mph from the 4C. Alpha claims that the 4C will be able to get from a standstill to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds.

The debut of the Alpha Romeo 4C is said to be in the late 2013 with the starting price around $45,000. Because the normal trend of Alpha Romeo is to be unreliable and filled with broken promises we still have our fingers crossed in hope for this new model 4C, and we are certain that no one can be sure of what you will get until the delivery of the vehicles start at the beginning of 2014.
