BMW – News and Updates in 2014
Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (Bavarian Motor Works AG), abbreviated BMW AG was founded in 1916 in Germany. First, it was founded to manufacture aircraft engines, later motorcycles. Since 1930s BMW, headquartered in Munich, Germany, has started making cars. BMW became known as a driver-focused car maker, because of the success in rally and touring-car championships, as well as in Formula One. However, the reputation of BMWs emerged in the 1980s when Bayerische Motor Werke hit the market with its 3-series. This is when BMW has become the status symbol for new generation of successful Yuppies. Nevertheless, BMW certainly offers a full slate of incredible cars. So, let’ take a look at changes and innovations in 2014!
M5 – Production of the 2014 M5 BMW has started in the summer of 2013 and it has brought a new Competition package including refined steering, suspension tweaks, 20-inch wheels and 15-hp increase. A revised steering wheel and new LED taillights finish out the updates of M5.
M6 – This year M6 is available in Gran Coupe, couple and convertible body styles. A Competition package is similar to the BMW M5. A manual 6-speed is available, too.
X5 – The 2014 X5 has arrived with a choice of 2 gasoline engines: a 4.4 l twin-turbocharged V-8 with 445-hp or 3.0 l turbocharged inline-6 with 300-hp. Both engines are coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 6-cylinder makes rear-wheel drive possible. What’s more, a diesel-powered model is bound to arrive these days, followed by an M version.
2- series – For 2014 BMW has prepared the replacement for the 1-series convertible and couple (coupe is already available, while we have to wait a few months more for a convertible). It is a spot on for all the devoted fans of the ultimate driving machine!
Well, of course this is not everything BMW has made for us to make 2014 a really enjoyable year for all their fans. However, this is enough for us to take heart, since we haven’t been very thrilled with the direction this manufacturer has taken in recent years. BMW is back in the game, definitely!
